Children
"Enter into children's play, and you will find the place where their minds, hearts, and souls meet." -Virginia Axline.
Children act out when they are unable to verbalize feelings and often express themselves better through play and art. Play and creative activities are used in therapy to communicate and observe how the child uses these activities to express thoughts and feelings that are not expressed in words.
Although most sessions are with the child alone, we work together with parents or guardians to track progress and obtain a broader perspective of the child's environment and needs.
Therapy might not be right for you and your child at this time if...
- You believe this is your child's issue, and you're not 100% willing to make changes
- You and your partner are not on the same page, or one doesn't believe counseling will work
- You are unable to be consistent with appointments or don't have enough time implement techniques learned in sessions
